ASB SUPPORT AWARDS
2019 GUIDELINES AND DEADLINES
The Lafayette Frederick Underrepresented Minorities Scholarship ($1200) - The ASB Committee on Human Diversity is excited to announce the inaugural offering of this prestigious award named for long-time ASB member, Past President, and John Herr Lifetime Achievement Award winner Dr. Lafayette Frederick. At this time, the annual scholarship is intended to support one outstanding undergraduate student to attend the meeting, receiving mentorship onsite from a faculty member in a discipline related to the interests of the student, and attending many networking opportunities such as the Plenary Social, the Diversity Luncheon, the Thursday Night Social, and the Friday Night Banquet. This scholarship is intended to cover society membership and meeting registration (including the ticketed events mentioned above), as well as travel and lodging. Support Award for Graduate Student Members of ASB ($250 plus ASB Banquet ticket) – Limited funds are available to defray expenses for graduate students who attend and present at the ASB meeting. Students may apply for an award of $250 plus a ticket to the ASB Banquet. Recipients must be members of ASB and present at the annual meeting to be eligible. Support Awards for First-Generation Undergraduate Student Members of ASB – The ASB Committee on Human Diversity is pleased to announce that funds are available to partially defray the expenses of undergraduate first generation college students that will attend the Association of Southeastern Biologists Annual Meeting. The awards are meant to defray the cost of student registration, student membership, travel and lodging costs associated with the 2018 ASB Meeting. It is unlikely that total award will exceed $200 and the awards will be disbursed at the meeting. Recipients must be members of ASB.
