Annual Meetings of the Association of Southeastern Biologists
Almost every year since our founding, biologists across the southeast and beyond have met at the annual meeting of the Association of Southeastern Biologists to share their science, network with colleagues, and reunite with friends. Our meetings provide a friendly atmosphere for undergraduates, graduate students, and professionals to present their work, meet their peers, and learn from our exhibitors. The annual meeting takes place in a different city in the southeast each year. For more details about our meeting, check out our Meeting Guide.
Presentation Guidelines
Guidelines for Abstracts
Abstracts submitted to the annual meeting of the Association of Southeastern Biologists are reviewed for completeness and appropriateness by an editing board consisting of members of the program committee and the editor of the bulletin of the ASB, Southeastern Biology. Abstracts submitted for awards are further reviewed for eligibility by judges aligned with those organizations. Editors and judges are professional biologists. Abstracts are published in Southeastern Biology.
A link to abstract submissions is available on the specific year's meeting page when abstract submission is open. Abstracts should be no more than 300 words and should describe the presentation in a way to give the audience a general understanding of the project. Submitting authors will have the opportunity to edit their abstracts after submission.
All presenters must register for the meeting to present.

poster presentations
Posters should be printed to fit within a 46" (Width) x 44" (Height) space. Boards and thumbtacks will be provided to display your poster. There will be two posters to a board, so please do not exceed the maximum size as it will overlap neighboring posters. Posters will be displayed for one full day, but presenters will stand by their poster during an hour-long poster session. Odd-numbered posters will present in the morning and even-numbered posters will present in the afternoon on either Thursday or Friday (occasionally meetings are shifted to Friday and Saturday). Optional ePosters (required for awardees) are due a week before the meeting. Instructions for ePosters are provided in the acceptance letter and other email communication.

oral presentations
Oral presentations are given 15 minutes. Presenters should plan for about 12 minutes of talking with 3 minutes left for questions and transitioning to the next speaker. There is no additional space between talks. Presenters typically prepare a PowerPoint slideshow that is compatible with Windows on a PC. It is best to bring a backup PDF. A computer is provided in each presentation room and the speaker must make plans to install your presentation on the desktop of your room’s computer in the morning of your talk using a USB drive; there will not be time immediately before your talk. Expect the computers in the rooms to lack audio and internet. Make sure to give your file a unique identifier (e.g. LastName_ASB2022) to avoid losing it among the many entitled, “ASB 2023 talk” and the like. Switching computers and using personal laptop is prohibited as this causes unnecessary delays and computer malfunctions.

Lightning Talks
Lightning talks provide a less-formal, speedy format to share ideas and hypotheses, discuss novel experimental approaches, or present truly preliminary results. No more than FIVE, heart-pounding minutes and THREE slides to leave your mark, engage, and connect with others. Only a title and a brief abstract to explain your idea is required at time of submission. Limited slots are available, so act fast. Slots will be filled on a first come basis, and others will be added to a waiting list. This session will take place in the Exhibit Hall, in a "theater" space after one of the poster sessions.

Tribeta presentations
Tribeta abstracts will be submitted at the same time as ASB abstracts. Tribeta presentations are often divided by district and presented concurrently with ASB presentations. Tribeta presenters must register for the meeting to present.
